We are committed to providing a safe, welcoming and professional environment for everyone attending, speaking at, volunteering at or otherwise participating in our conference.
By participating in the conference, you agree to adhere to this Code of Conduct. Conference organizers will enforce this code throughout the event, and we expect cooperation from all participants.
Attendees
All attendees are expected to behave respectfully and professionally towards other attendees, speakers, volunteers, venue staff and conference organizers.
Harassment and inappropriate behaviour will not be tolerated. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Offensive verbal comments or conduct related to gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity or religion.
- Deliberate intimidation, stalking or following.
- Harassing photography or recording.
- Sustained disruption of talks, workshops or other conference activities.
- Unwelcome sexual attention.
- Displaying sexual, graphic or otherwise inappropriate imagery in conference spaces.
- Threatening, abusive or deliberately disruptive behaviour.
Attendees who are asked to stop inappropriate or harassing behaviour are expected to comply immediately.
Speakers
Speakers are expected to meet the same standards of respectful and professional behaviour as all other conference participants. In addition, speakers have a responsibility to ensure that the material they present is appropriate for a professional conference environment.
Presentations, demonstrations and other session materials must not include unnecessarily graphic, distressing or disturbing content.
This includes, but is not limited to:
- Real-world footage or imagery depicting death or serious injury.
- Footage or imagery of serious accidents or disasters.
- Graphic violence or its aftermath.
- Other material that could reasonably be considered traumatic or significantly distressing to an audience.
Where potentially sensitive material is genuinely necessary to the subject being discussed, speakers must consult with the conference organizers before the event. Organizers may require the material to be removed, altered or accompanied by an appropriate content warning.
Providing a content warning does not in itself make otherwise inappropriate material acceptable.
Speakers are responsible for all material included in their sessions, including slides, photographs, videos, audio, demonstrations and external media.
Conference organizers reserve the right to stop a presentation or require material to be removed if they consider it inappropriate for the event.
Enforcement
Anyone asked by a conference organizer to stop harassing, inappropriate or disruptive behaviour is expected to comply immediately.
If a participant violates this Code of Conduct, conference organizers may take any action they consider appropriate. This may include:
- Issuing a verbal or written warning.
- Requiring inappropriate material or behaviour to stop.
- Stopping or ending a presentation.
- Removing the participant from the conference.
- Refusing participation in future events.
Serious incidents may result in immediate removal from the conference without a prior warning.
